Camp Avanti
Avanti-Camp St. Croix is an intensive sensory integration summer camp. Camp Avanti is a unique summer camp program that combines a challenging camp environment with an intensive Sensory Integration treatment approach. Campers will participate each day in a broad range of activities planned for fun and therapeutic benefit, and receive occupational therapy utilizing neuro-behavioral theories. Every camper's program is individually created and continually updated throughout the week. The goal is to provide a total treatment environment within the fun of the camp experience.
The overnight camp is designed for boys and girls, ages 8-12, and the day camp for ages 6-8, who have average or above average intelligence, but have diagnosed learning disabilities and/or sensory integrative dysfunction. These children may have poor coordination, attention deficits, hyperactivity, inadequate motor planning skills, and/or sensory processing disorders.
Because Camp Avanti has been designed for group experience, therapeutic support is geared toward the facilitation of peer interaction with camp activities. Staff/camper ratio is three staff to eight children during day-time activities.
Activities Include:
Canoeing, kayaking, sailing, outdoor games, hiking, nature activities, arts & crafts, music, swimming, horseback riding, WonderLab: SI Therapy-Based.
Campfire is a special opportunity for singing, self-expression, and camaraderie. Demonstrations of Native American lore and drumming are popular. Underlying foundations for the success of Avanti-Camp St. Croix include principles of occupational therapy that reflect the therapeutic value of the camp experience. Camp activities and environment are used as therapeutic tools to facilitate children's development. Small group experiences provide a safe and nurturing emotional/social environment which facilitates new challenges.
Priority will be given to children who have been to this camp previously and to children in the local area.

Camp Fee:
$600 for overnight camp (ages 8-12) and $445 for day camp (ages 6-8), with a $100 deposit required when application is made. The remaining fees are due upon acceptance.
2008 Avanti-Camp
